Transferring a Device to Another Group

If you want to change a device from a group to another without resetting its configuration, this guide is made for you.

To transfer one or several devices to another device group:
  1. On the left navigation bar, click on the Devices tab, and the Devices page is displayed.
  2. In the All Devices section, click on the checkboxes next to the devices you want to transfer, then click on the transfer button.
  3. In the Transfer Device pop up, the devices you selected are listed on the top. Continue to Step 6 below.

  4. In the All Devices section, click on the transfer button.
  5. In the Transfer Device pop up, enter the device IDs or device names into the Search for devices query field, a dropdown menu appears as you type for you to quickly select the devices to transfer.
  6. Click on the Transfer to Group dropdown menu and select the device group that you want to transfer the selected devices.
  7. Click on the checkbox if you want to update the device configuration with the default device type configuration of this group.
    Note: Please refer to the Device Type Default Configuration section for more information on the default configurations you can apply to the device types.
  8. Click on the Transfer button to confirm the action.

If you have a large volume of devices to transfer, you may also transfer devices in bulk:
  1. On the left navigation bar, click on the Devices tab, and the Devices page is displayed.
  2. In the All Devices section, click on the … more button and click on Transfer devices in bulk in the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Transfer Devices in Bulk pop up, click on the Transfer to Group dropdown menu and select the device group that you want to transfer the devices in bulk.
  4. Click on the Network dropdown menu and select the communication network protocol used by the device type.
  5. Refer to the CSV file format example on the right to create your CSV file for the devices, or click on Download CSV template link, open the CSV file on your desktop/laptop computer, replace the template content in the file with your device IDs, then save the file.
  6. Click on the Upload CSV button to upload the CSV file with your device IDs.
  7. Click on the checkbox if you want to update the device configuration with the default device type configuration of this group.

  8. Click on the Transfer button to confirm the action.
